Keep Praying Child

Oh, beloved Christian,
How long and hard you’ve prayed,
How often in the dead of night
Upon your knees you stayed.
The nights have grown to weary weeks;
The weeks to lonely years;
The pages of God’s Word you’ve claimed
Are often stained with tears.
How often those around you
Have heard as you’ve cried out.
And some have seen your weariness
As you began to doubt.
“Does God not care?” The devil asks
To tempt you he draws near,
“Perhaps your God’s not listening,
Perhaps He cannot hear.”
Oh, dear one, your loving God
Has heard your every prayer.
Never, for a moment doubt
How much your Lord doth care.
He could have answered long ago,
Each cry He could but heed.
But had He answered every one,
You’d not have what you need.
You need to know Him better,
You need to know His heart.
He could have given what you asked,
He chose the better part.
Keep praying, child, keep praying.
Each day your faith will grow,
The more you keep on praying,
The more of Him you’ll know.
