On Stony Soil

Some seed may fall on stony soil,
Soil not deep enough.
Soil that will not grant us roots,
When life gets really tough.

Soil that feeds on happy times,
And loves a God of grace,
But recoils when the storms of life
Cover God’s dear face.

And in the quiet of that night
We often fret and scorn.
“Oh, God, where are You now?”
We shout, in grief, forlorn,

“I’m right here, child”, the Master cries,
“You know how I can ‘bless,’
Now you need to know Me
Amidst life’s trials and tests.

Be still, My child, and wait on Me,
On that dark, stormy day.
Be still and hear the stony soil
Begin to melt away.

Be still, My child, and praise My name
Amidst life’s grief and strife.
Be still, My child, you’re bearing fruit,
And I will change your life!”
