A Plan Or a Man

“This set of rules, you’ll follow,”
So often others say.
Is this not what you Christians
Call, “The Master’s Way?”
I believe this, or I refute that,
The criteria seems to be.
What do I know about Jesus?
(Not what does He ask of me.)
We follow a creed, and hapless man
Finds no strength within a creed,
Nor does a set of do’s and don’ts
Reach down and meet his need.
And so, men crying for the love
That only God can give,
Are handed a “better way of life”
With, “This is how you live!”
Oh, God forgive us! Man needs not
New rules to run the race,
He needs to meet a person,
And meet Him face to face!
He needs an introduction
That only we can give,
He needs to meet the Savior
Who has a life to live.
We miss it, don’t we Christians?
We will not pay the price,
We’re forever knowing Christianity,
Instead of knowing Christ.
May we completely yield to Him,
Our lives, our souls, our wealth,
That men may not see rules of life,
But rather Life Himself!
