1359A: A Gospel of Insignificant Beginnings

A grain of mustard seed. Nothing in Jesus’ time was considered smaller or of less significance in and of itself. It was not what the seed was, however; it was what the seed became that was so unusual. In the same way, Christ’s life began in an insignificant way – born of an unknown woman, an unmarried carpenter became his stepfather, and with no fanfare He began His life in a smelly stable.
