Oh, that we in this modern age
Who live in this evil day,
Would once again like the angels,
Learn what it means to obey.
When our God gives a simple command
Such as, “Child, thou shalt not lie”.
He doesn’t mean, “Dear, if you can,
I only want you to try.”
He means, never, ever in any way,
As an adult or as a youth,
Do you have the freedom
To depart one inch from the truth.
You were created and so was I
In the image of our Lord,
And the image obeys – always obeys –
And we’re to obey Your Word.
Oh, that we afresh could learn
Yes, we’re free that’s true,
We’re free to obey His every word
Just like the angels do.
