God Does Not Hurry
by Russell Kelfer
(There is no audio for this poem.)
God does not hurry, child,
Our Master has no need
To press the grapes too quickly,
Our weary cries to heed.
He’s fashioning a work of grace,
He’ll do what that requires.
He’ll not accelerate the task
To pass refiner’s fires.
He’ll slowly, patiently press on,
Amidst our toil and grief.
He’ll weep with us o’er all our pain,
As our hearts seek relief.
But God will not His time revise,
E’en seeing Heaven’s gate,
You’ll feel His hand, and hear Him
Whisper, “Blessed, loved one – wait.
I have a time for everything
It’s fashioned in My plan
And child, whene’er the time is right
I’ll have – a godly man.”
